Why ‘The Bard’?

We all know a picture tells a thousand words. I think Blaise Pascal figured this out with that crazy calculator of his. Whether a painting, a photograph, or a crude doodle drawn on a restroom stall, an image holds the weight of everything that came before it, a story, if you will.  The concept of art and the artist as a storyteller is something that I’ve clung to for a while now. Its what drew me into the world of comics and what inspires me still.

That’s where you, the viewer, comes in. What good is a story if you tell it to a hole in the ground? No good. Only trouble. For me the allure of a good story is the opportunity to tell a story to a whole lot of people, especially when it fits the context of the story in a clever way. And it matters not the event being told, for even a bad experience that produces a good story to tell, can be a good experience looking back.

The Bard‘s goal is simple.

  1. Find space to upload images.
  2. Present images in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
  3. ?
  4. Profit!

Of course, steps one and two are simple enough in this day and age. Steps 3 and 4 however, are a mystery wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in bacon. But those answers will come soon enough.  The Bard is meant to be many things. A networking tool, a portfolio, an outlet for me to pour my creative energies into, and a really spiffy website. In the future I hope to add more features such as RSS feeds that link my site and Nadir’s to one Page 8 Productions portal site, webcomics, a place to organize and advertise gallery showings, and much more!

Hope you enjoy your stay. Do watch out for the poops.

Clearly intentional.
I’m pretty sure it’s pronounced ‘Blaze’. How sweet is what?
“…He was told not to mention it. But he could not keep the secret; so he went out into the meadow, dug a hole in the ground, whispered the story into it, and covered the hole up. A thick bed of reeds sprang up in the meadow, and began whispering the story and saying “King Midas has a donkey’s ears.”
